I’m a 32 year-old woman going through IVF. As far as I know, I do not have fertility issues. I have never been pregnant or attempted to get pregnant. My mom died of ALS in 2012, and in May of 2016 I found out that I have the same gene. There is a 50% chance of passing the gene onto my kids, so my husband and I decided to go through IVF with PGD testing, so that none of our children inherit the gene. While going through this process, I have not been able to find many blogs for women in my same situation (no fertility issues, selecting IVF to not pass on a hereditary disease), so hopefully this helps other people who might be going through the same thing.
Egg Retrieval #1 : September 2016 –> 46 eggs retrieved –> 17 blastocysts –> Only 1 egg passes both PGS & PGD testing –> .:despair:.
Egg Retrieval #2 : November 2016 –> 61 eggs retrieved –> 16 blastocysts –> 5 eggs pass both PGS & PGD testing –> huzzah!
